Hello and welcome to the Open Source Book Project. You are about to participate in a Collaborative event that will be mentioned down through the ages.
This post will help you to understand the do's and Don't's of creating a new series in the open source book project.
Define your series. Every series must be clearly defined or it will be locked out from further submissions until it meets the guidelines. As all series in this forum will be published 1 year after the initiating post, it is required that the series follows the guidelines set.
When these criteria are met, the series will be opened for user submissions. Which will be covered in the next post. If you have any questions or comments please post them in response to this post and they will be answered or added to the original post promptly.
- Every series must come with a map of some form of the world or universe that is being covered. Do not add specifics just a map with names of regions
- Every series must have a Genesis date. A Genesis date is the date at which all stories in this series begin.
- Every series must also have a Rapture Date. A Rapture date is the date at which all stories in this series end. (make it reasonable, the community can't work with a 1 month period to form 1 year's worth of stories)
- Every series must have a clearly defined technology level. A Medieval series would not have lasers and giant mechs unless you state it, so be clear with the current running technology (leave some wiggle room for others though)
- Every series must have a genre. This is pretty obvious. Is it a science fiction? is it a romance? a commedy? you need to make it known.
- Every series must have an opening story that is created by the author of that series.
- All stories inside a series are to be posted on the same thread.
- The poster of the series must define how long the project will run for. (6 months or 1 year)
When these criteria are met, the series will be opened for user submissions. Which will be covered in the next post. If you have any questions or comments please post them in response to this post and they will be answered or added to the original post promptly.
